The seismic activity in the Reykjanes peninsula is still elevated. Over the past four days there were 14 earthquakes with M> 4, and two with M>5. In this period, more than 6000 earthquakes have been detected by the automatic system. The seismicity is primarily located between Keilir and Fagradalsfjall. The latest InSAR and GPS data show a deformation pattern in the area where the elevated seismicity is currently located. The most likely explanation for this signal is an inflow of magma at depth. The aviation color code for Krýsuvík is maintained yellow. IMO keeps monitoring the area 24 hours a day and will communicate any significant changes through the standard channels if needed.
